I’m a Terrible Writer

Dylan Jourey ran his hands through his dark brown hair in frustration. He couldn’t believe that his daughter had done that. He couldn’t believe that she had burst into Skye Parker’s shelter, her place of business, and just made that accusation. He hadn’t even realized that the town they had moved to was one that actually had a Parker in residence. He figured that was what he got for not looking into the proprietors of businesses.

But when he had heard about this town, he had to bring his daughter. He was tired of always having to hide who and what they were, everywhere that they had moved. It wasn’t that he wasn’t proud that he was a werewolf and that he was raising a “werewolf pup”, especially as a single father, but most of the world didn’t even realize that they were actually real, that they actually existed. That was the problem, the singular problem. If they really knew, they would be hunted down and eliminated. That’s why he moved to Needmore, Colorado.

Yuck! That’s what I wrote. This is why I have a love-hate relationship with NaNoWriMo. I write terribly when I’m forced to write. When I let the words just flow, I can get some amazing shit done.

Right now, it’s not happening. Right now, I’m just trying to get caught back up!

Even my SEO plugin is telling me my writing is bad :O

Oh well, time to just keep going! See you on the flip side!

Plotting and Reading

Things to think of when I’m working on NaNoWriMo 2018:

  • I need to world build. It will be in the US, but it will be it’s own city.
  • I need to figure out what types of supernaturals I want in my world. The duhs are shifters, vampires, witches, and such. But I want to go further. I love the idea of all other types as well.
  • I need to get more ideas as well. Right now I am just super inspired!

I’ve currently been reading the Nocturne Falls Universe series, after reading the original series by Kristen Painter. It’s seriously some good stories!

Dragons, Vampires, shifters (of all sorts), Reaper (yes, that type of Reaper), Genie, witches, even gargoyles. Seriously, I’m addicted to the series. I’m addicted to the world.

She opened up her world to other writers as well, and that’s what I’ve been reading now. Like, I’m just going through the books like crazy. Over the weekend, I read like 4 books. No, I’m not exaggerating at all.

I’m a fast reader, I will admit that. I read fast, and I read easily. With having a Kindle Fire, it makes reading on the go a lot easier, but still. To read that many means I was sucked in. And it was with several different authors, as well.

Now, back to my NaNoWriMo thinking.

I want to create my own world. I want it to be full of life and magical. I want it to be unique but not completely. I want magicals and humans. I want to figure out a way to make it so that humans will “believe” what they’re told if they see something that they’re not supposed to see.

This is what I’m going to have to figure out. That’s what I’m going to need to work on.

Camp NaNoWriMo happens in July. I think I might participate for that. That’s what I love about Camp NaNoWriMo. You get to set your own goals and what you want to accomplish.

I think for July I want to have at least 10 characters created, and I need to have the basics for the world created. I need their rules. Their ideals. The main shops. The main “NPCs”. Things like that.

I think I can accomplish that. I think I can do that. No issues.

World Building: The World: The Basics

The questions and things come from here. We’ll see how well I can do this,. If anything really sucks, please, please, PLEASE, let me know!

  • Are the laws of nature and physics actually different in this world, or are they the same as in real life? How does magic fit in? How do magical beasts fit in?
Basic laws of physics apply, except in situations in which the Magickals are involved. Then, the rules are no longer applied, in a general sense. There are still rules to govern the way it is used, and no changing of atoms and things occurs, though “creation” of new ones can, in a sense.
  • Is this generally an earth-like world? Is it an “alternate Earth”?
Generally, it’s pretty much “Earth” with minor differences, much like how Vulcan is much like Earth but not.

I've done lost my damn mind …

Well, I read Born of Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon and damn it, now I’m going to be creating my own world in which my story is going to take place on.

I’m thinking I’m gonna work on a “universe” and do it that way. I think that would just be awesome.

Kill me for taking all of this on now!
