The Random Things I Think About

Untitled

As I was driving home today, after facing a couple of my big terrors (driving somewhere I’m not familiar with and talking to new people), I realized something.

I’m not scared to drive. I still get anxiety, but I used to be terrified to get behind the wheel. Now, I get excited. I like to drive. Sometimes, I even love it.

But I’m no longer terrified.

Unless there’s construction. Then I’m a messball of nerves and I need to just get off the road or at least somewhere where I know where I’m going.

But I’m no longer terrified.

If I can overcome that, I can do anything. I can do whatever I want to do.

Sometimes …

Untitled

Sometimes … something catches your eye.

Sometimes … that something is your reflection.

You find yourself wondering who that person is.

When you realize it’s yourself, you’re amazed.

Sitting there in wonder.

At least that happened to me. I sat in wonder when this picture popped up on my camera.

I never consider myself pretty, but in this picture? This series of shots? I felt beautiful.

Face Reflection

017.365 [2014] - Face Reflection

Because of a friend of mine, I joined 365Project. They do challenges to help you get your daily photos for the project. One of them is the Tag Challenge. Basically, you go to the tag page, and randomly choose two tags. I got “Face” and “Reflection”. I ended up with some cool pictures, using my integrated laptop webcam.

Come and Sit a Spell

Kids and Josh went into the rainforest. I popped a squat on a bench with this view

There’s a bench (not an industrial bench) at the Topeka Zoo that I will sit at when Josh takes the kids into the rainforest. I can’t go in there unless I have to because the smell and humidity make me sick to my stomach and causes a major head.

So I sit outside, and wait. I have some quiet time to reflect on what is the meaning of life (42). I listen to the sounds of the birds inside the rainforest building. I hear the honking of the geese. I hear laughter of kids on a nearby playground.

It’s a peaceful feeling, though I am wishing that I was inside, enjoying the wonder of my kids’ enjoyment of the birds and animals. The ability to spend the rest of the day with my family, though missing those few moments, is worth more than seeing those few moments and feeling them ruined moments later when I feel the need to just crawl under the covers, with my trusty bucket friend. Just in case I don’t make it to the bathroom in time.
