Sadly, if we’re going to buy a house, I might have to look into getting a part-time job. It can be anything like mcdonalds jobs, to working in an office, inputting information. Something.
Because, even making $52k minimum a year, if we want to be able to afford clothes and food for our kids, we can’t afford a house payment more than $1k a month. Houses here? Minimum of $150k for a *lot*, not an acre. So, no yard. Not the greatest for school district (501 instead of Seaman, which we are in now), things like that. We have to *settle* just to be in a house.
We don’t want to do that. We shouldn’t have to do that. Land is worth a lot, I understand, but shitty areas should not be worth that much. RURAL shouldn’t be $300k for 5 acres. Yes, we have seen prices like that, in BFE. Freaking insanity.
And this is Kansas. Like the 2nd or 3rd CHEAPEST state to live in.
The bad thing? Any idea how hard it is to find a job when you’re only available from 9am to 3pm M-F. You’re not available on Saturdays, period. Available all day Sundays. Can’t work holidays, unless it’s a federal one, because your husband is working.
Yeah, it’s damn near impossible, even in the best of economies.
I’ve actually looked at lights similar to those at Seagull lighting, for when we get a house. The fixtures are so gorgeous! I’m wanting something fun and that will mesh well with stuff we already have, plus the theme(s) we plan on creating. Most of the house will be in blues and browns, beachy colors. Its one of the things Josh and I really agree on though even if he didn’t, I think he’d let me have it, since I’d be spending more time in it than he would,. Smart man, right?
Josh and I were talking last night, again, about when we get a house,. One of the things we discussed was a “work-out” room. He wants a weight bench, but wants to also look at ellipticals and treadmills. We’re not 100% sure on which one we’d rather get. Personally, I like the treadmill. I’ve used both at the gym, and I like the adjust-ability of the treadmills. 🙂
Josh is no longer ever going to take me to Home Depot. We went in for things for a hose, so Josh could flush my heater core (worked awesome, BTW). Yeah, we spent an hour in the store. Why? Because I wanted to look at windows, doors, floor tiles, counters, etc. I love walking through Home Depot and Lowe’s for that stuff. I had Josh rolling his eyes because I found the tub faucets and told him “even the faucets will match and/or coordinate”. What? I’m not obsessed, I swear.
