Busy Next Few Days

Untitled

Today I worked a morning shift. Starting tomorrow, I’m off for five days! FIVE DAYS :O I only requested 3, but I’ll take those five!

Monday, Madison has her middle school promotion. She’ll be officially a freshman! Though, honestly, we are calling her one now since she’s officially done with everything! Now I get to learn all about the high school transition and payments and all of that!

Tuesday, Ethan has his promotion to middle school! I was barely able to see Madi’s when she was promoted to middle school, so I wasn’t going to risk having to rush to work. It really worked out me requesting the day off since I’d be at work during that time anyway with my new schedule!

Wednesday, the kids don’t have school. Everyone else does (minus seniors), but those two don’t have to go! They’re no longer students of those schools πŸ˜‰ So I requested that day! Last full day of freedom until they can schedule me any sort of hours that they want πŸ˜‰

The other two days I have off are Sunday and Thursday! I’m excited for some actual days off. We’ll ignore that I had Wednesday through Friday off, as well. I was doing things (and having to get up early) on those days! Now I won’t have to actually get up early πŸ˜‰

Back to School Time … Part 01

School starts August 15th this years from the 2013-14 school year. We’re going for a more “mature” theme for the kids. Well, at least something that doesn’t scream “I’m a little kid.” Madison is going into 5th Grade, and Ethan’s going into 3rd, so it fits. We let them choose most of their supplies, the ones that can be customized. Madison is going for a pink and purple theme. Ethan’s is more neutral, but VERY boy, πŸ˜†

They have great taste, I think. Madison originally wanted a $35 backpack. At this point in time, she doesn’t need that. Maybe middle school, when she’ll be bringing home mountains of homework. High school, she’s probably going to end up with an almost hiking-style backpack. Poor kid!
Ethan was super excited to find a camouflage one. I like that it was pixelized grays, and not the traditional brown or green version of camo. Just looks better to me.

Review: Barefoot Season by Susan Mallery

Barefoot SeasonBarefoot Season by Susan Mallery

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

There aren’t a lot of books that can make me cry that aren’t really designed to make me cry.
This book though? I cried all the way through. Some happy tears, some heartbroken tears. All good tears.

Michelle is a war vet. She’s got a clear case of PTSD, and she’s worsening it with drinking.

Carly was Michelle’s best friend, until Michelle’s father left with Carly’s mom. And then Carly stole Michelle’s boyfriend, and Michelle stole him back.

It was all very high school (happened in high school), but Michelle is back, and they have to face those issues.

Michelle isn’t dealing well, at all, and drinking. She’s asked to take care of an abandoned and abused dog. Together, they help each other heal.

Along the way, Michelle and Carly heal their relationship as well, and relationships with a couple of great guys.

Great read, very engaging and kept me sucked in.

THEME Β» Top Five Songs That Take Me Back To High School
Listed in no particular order, πŸ˜›

1. Angel – Sarah McLachlan

The song is more than a movie, it was my hope for my life. I wanted to find a guy who loved me like that. I think it’s safe to say that I did, now πŸ™‚

2. Basket Case – Green Day

Reminds me of a guy I went to high school with. He was flipping hilarious, and a trip to be around. Makes me wonder how he’s doing now, and what he’s up to.

3. Beauty and the BeastBeauty and the Beast soundtrack

Even after all these years, still my favorite movie.

4. Graduation (Friends Forever) – Vitamin C

I can proudly say we were the only class that had legitimate claims to this song, since it came out during the 2000 graduating class’s graduating year πŸ™‚

5. The Hardest Thing – 98 Degrees
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NadZlts3AyA – embedding disabled, since this is the official video for it πŸ™‚

My cousin, Amanda, and I went to a 98 Degrees concert, and yes, I drooled over Nick. Hell, I still do, πŸ˜›

Doing this meme really drove home how much a new desktop and the laptop are becoming a necessity πŸ™ Thank god I’m getting the laptop tomorrow πŸ™‚
