It’s Me or the Dog

Yes, I’m talking about the show. I’m watching the episode of the 15 Strangest Cases. One of the cases was a beagle that was the size of a bulldog. Good lord!! They’re talking about people who over-feed the dog. I’m used to free-feeding with my parents’ dogs, but they were also always outside (so not inside often, or for long). I’m also used to time-feeding with Josh’s dad’s dogs. I think the time-feeding will be best when we get a house and a dog or two, along with a cat or two. I do plan on doing some “people” food, such as chicken and recommended veggies. I was glad to see that it was actually a good suggestion. Josh is like “why?” and I’m hoping he sees that it will make for a happier dog. We’ll see, I guess.

I’m Not Sleeping …

at all. Lately, I’ve been not sleeping at all! I’ve been having to rely on Tylenol PM for when I have headaches and Unisom when I don’t, just to get some sleep. Sadly, I’m not sleeping through the night, even with the sleep aids. I’m seriously considering finding out if natural sleeping pills would help me at all.

I’m watching Cats 101 on Animal Planet. I want, want, want a Maine Coone or a Bombay. Yeah, opposite ends of the spectrum there. Madison wants a Selkirk Rex, . It’s 3 layers of curly fur, including curly whiskers, ;) . Adorable cats!!

We’ve also been watching Dogs 101. Josh wants a Great Pyrenees. I’m okay with that, because I want an Australian Shepherd, . On Dogs 101, it said, “if the Australian Shepherd does not have sheep to herd, it will herd your children”. I started cracking up at that. I mentioned it to Josh, and he goes “well, duh.” He’s 100% okay with a dog that does that. It’s not a “vicious” trait. It’s not even a dangerous one. It’s just the dog’s instincts. We wouldn’t train it out, but we would train the dog on where and when to use it.

Pets

Josh and I were talking home security systems, and  , the subject of pets came up.
Josh wants a Great Pyrenees or a Wolf Malamute mix:

I’m okay with either, as long as either one we get knows that my future dog will be the Alpha, :

Yes, I want a yorkie, . They’re TOO cute, and so sweet!

So, the big dog would be our protector while the little one would be the boss. That sounds fair, right?

Another Reason For a House

Ethan is wanting to get a dog. That means we’d have to buy some dog supplies. That means we need a house. For one thing, to store all the crap a dog needs, you need space. Plus, the dog itself needs lots and lots of space. To run. To play. To use the restroom. And since Josh wants a big dog, we’re gonna need a lot of space!
