Today’s Accomplishment

Untitled

The goal for 2016 is to get me set up in a routine. Today, I found an app that will help. It’s called TimeTune on Android, and I have to say that I like!

Today’s plan was to do the living room. I had some geek-like things to cheer me on: Chewie fell over, Yoda, ET, R2D2, Derpy Pony, Spiderman, and Wicket!

Merry Christmas

Untitled

My babies had a good Christmas, I think. They didn’t get a lot of toys, but they’re outgrowing them. Ethan got a few Lego sets, as did Madison. She also got 2 “adult” coloring books, which she asked for. She got an owl one and an animal one. Plus some art supplies!

Flashback Friday

Today, we saw Star Wars.

My review:

Can’t talk about it without spoilers. It was good. Not Ep4-6 good, but better than Jar Jar Banks containing ones for sure.

Since I didn’t take a lot of pictures, and I spent 3 hours in the theater, I decided to do a Flashback Friday!

One year ago, we had snow on the ground. Not a lot, but enough to make roads not fun to be on. So far, now? We’ve had some ice and that’s it.

I Took Notes

We had a fiction writing workshop at my library to prepare for NaNoWriMo. It was awesome. I heard lots of great advice, and even took some notes!

10 Steps to Plotting (For Pantsers)

  • Have a Firm Idea. Know something even if it’s not everything.
  • Know a little bit about your characters {Pinterest will help with this}
  • Leave room for unexpected characters and events
  • Collect random stuff {again, Pinterest will help, as will the S4}
  • Make a general outline
  • General list of possible problems, obstacles and events
  • General list of possible subplots (romance, mystery, etc)
  • Know the end
  • Write as if … (great for when you’re stuck in a corner)

Plot will happen if you sit long enough.

Who Do I Kill?

  • Probably not the main character
  • Unlike Rule 34, the above does have exceptions

Why Do I Kill Them

  • Chewbacca saving Hans Solo’s kids
  • Establish villainy (Joker in the newest reboot)
  • Da gut punch
  • Plot arc (Darth Vader vs. Obi Wan Kenobi)
  • Establish Heroism (Stock sacrificing himself for the ship)
  • To encourage others (tell the readers it’s serious)

Why Not Kill Them

  • Sequels! Without convoluted plots (Star Trek III)
  • Angry fans
  • Angrier fans
  • Target audience
  • Recognizable Tuckerization (basing a character on someone you know)

Fill in outline as you go, so you can coach yourself on what should come next or need.

Talk through the dialogue. Record it somehow.

Josh and his lightsaber. One of two that he has. Not the cheap versions. Nope, they are official ones, with the removable blades. He has BOTH of Anakin Skywalker‘s (aka Luke & Vader versions).

I ? my geek!!
