This is a quick blog post because I’m running behind because my computer decided to spend 3 hours updating.

Yes, I’m serious.

Currently …

God, I love the West Wing. I’m so thankful for good dental insurance.
Also, To Command and Collar IS a BDSM book. I’m not ashamed of it 😛

Nope, Not Mine

Mom texted me, asking if I was missing my mouse. I panicked a little. The mouse I use for my laptop is a favorite. I got it after my first one got stuck shut. I’d spilled some soda (a couple drops) right on the part where it sealed), and had to replace it. I finally broke down and bought one with a design. Reminded me of fairies (it’s abstract. You see what you want to see). It’s actually called Into the Deep, which fits, since I’m also obsessed with all things ocean-related. I would be very sad if I’d lost it. I mean I could replace it if it was lost, but I don’t want to do that. I LOVE this mouse!

All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth. Oh wait, that’s what my kids want. What I want, I honestly already have, or will be getting soon. I have an amazing family. I’ve got my Keurig. Hell, I even have a Peyton Manning Colts jersey sitting somewhere in our bedroom. I just can’t open it until Christmas. Fuckers! Just kidding. No, I have the jersey. I’m just not that pissed. Hell, my mom is even sending me a Colts Nutcracker. Nutcrackers are a tradition for me. I love the things. What I want to get with Tax Return though … the BIG tax return spendage … is a new laptop. I am not sure if I’m going with Dell XPS or HP DVT series, but both are looking pretty good. I loved our hp desktops, even this one, which recently got a graphics card update. Next update on it is a power supply upgrade. Best Buy has them! I’m excited.

Now to get through the holidays … and being THIRTY and I’ll make it!

Oh Goodness Me

So, the laptop warned me that once a month, my processor is failing. Yeah, that’s scary. So, we started the official look at laptops. We’re staying away from HP. Simply put: they’re putting crap products together. The tower? Shitty GC. It was GREAT when it came out, but that was longer than when my LAPTOP came out. I got it in 2008. Yeah, and the power supply? Barely enough to RUN the computer. So we have to replace IT before we can replace the graphics card. Josh wants to upgrade the laptop FIRST, so we have a back-up, Laughing out loud. Smart man, he be Open-mouthed smile

So, we’re currently looking at Dells. Why? More bang for the buck. No, I’m not going to by a Mac. Why? Let me list the reasons why.

  1. They’re too expensive. $1K for a bare-bones laptop?
  2. Every program I own is for Windows.
  3. Um, they’re STUPID expensive?

So, I’ve found two. We have a few little requirements:

  1. I want a 15” or so. My fans are for that, and yeah, I’m used to that size. I don’t need a 17”. I like smaller. When you’re small, you prefer small.
  2. I want it to be able to game, but not heavy gaming. Give me some decent time for Sims 3 and I’ll be happy. MAYBE some NW3 when it comes out Laughing out loud
  3. I want it portable, with a decent HD, but it doesn’t have to be huge. I have a 3TB external flashing it’s little light at me going “fill me” Open-mouthed smile I need a big bigger simply for programs Smile with tongue out

Now, on to the 2 I’ve found. There’s a $50 difference between the two (differences listed):

  1. Dell  Inspiron Laptop / Intel® Core™ i5 Processor / 15.6″ Display
    Processor: Intel® Core™ i5
Processor Speed: 2.3GHz (with Turbo Boost up to 2.9GHz)
    Hard drive: 640GB
    Wi-Fi: Wireless-N
  2. Dell  Inspiron R Laptop / Intel® Core™ i3 Processor / 15.6″ Display
    Processor: Intel® Core™ i3
    Processor Speed: 2.1GHz
    5Hard drive: 00GB
    Wi-Fi: Wireless-A+B+G+N

#1 has 16 reviews, and they all seem pretty good. Only complaint was a display where you could see lines or something. Claimed that the HP didn’t show it, but I can make the HP I have show lines Laughing out loud

So, would you save the $50 and use it towards something else, or would you spend it? 500GB is DOUBLE what I have now. BOTH come with 6-gigs of RAM (that’s what the tower has). Research on Intel card said it wasn’t too bad, considering it was a laptop. Runs on Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit, which is also what the tower uses.

The Wi-Fi doesn’t really matter. Well, it might. My parents don’t have an N router, as far as I know, so I might be screwed with that, if I got the more expensive. We have a combo one here at home, so that’s all that truly matters.

So, what would you do?
