A Nice Day Off


Josh is on vacation this week. Lucky bastard and all that 😀 Today, I was finally off. I like my job, but damn, I was ready for a day to sleep in.

Not that THAT happened! We had to drop the truck off at the dealer because my battery gauge kept jumping around. It’s something we should watch but the part to fix alone is almost $600, and since it isn’t HURTING the truck while it’s in use, we don’t have to fix it. Same with the MAF sensor and the ABS brain 😆 Truck will be getting upgraded in a couple years, and according to Kelly Blue Book, is only worth a little over $4k, with a trade-in value barely over $2k 😆

30 Days of Lists: Day 16

D14 List 16 - Today I

  1. Figured out I’m coming down with a bad cold, which will probably turn into a sinus infection, which will then lead to a chest infection. Because that’s how it always goes, 😆
  2. Bought some fun little things that will make the kids’ Christmas pretty awesome! I’m so excited to see their faces in the morning.
  3. There was a big wreck not far from here, so I’m worried that some of the kids’ friends might be involved in some way.
  4. Bought three types of jerky I haven’t had before: BBQ pork, applewood smoke bacon, and turkey. The bacon didn’t last long AT ALL.
  5. Am very unattractive. Fevers and my skin do not agree. It gets so oily and gross.

The Official End of a Decade

They say a decade is from 0-10, so, if that is true, Josh has officially finished 3 decades in his life.


Today my amazing husband turned 31. At like 12:24am, he officially turned. With strep. Poor guy, but he felt better today, so we went out and did things Open-mouthed smile


I had to do my hair first. I’m using the hair-tie thing I got from Birchbox. It worked well. Held almost all day. Open-mouthed smile

Recipe: Orange-Sage Sweet Potatoes with Bacon

Oh goodness! I have been craving BACON. Who’s with me? Let’s get some bacon!!

Orange-Sage Sweet Potatoes With Bacon

  • 4 lbs. sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/4-inch-thick slices (about 10 cups)
  • 1/4 cup frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 cups tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried leaf sage, crushed
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, cut up
  • 4 slices bacon, crisp-cooked and crumbled
  1. Place sweet potatoes slices in a 5- to 6-quart slow cooker. In a small bowl, stir together orange juice concentrate, water, brown sugar, salt, sage, and thyme. Pour over sweet potato slices; toss to coat. Dot with butter.
  2. Cover and cook on low-heat for 5 to 6 hours or on high-heat setting for 2-1/2 to 3 hours. Before serving, stir to coat with orange juice mixture and sprinkle with bacon.

So, if you decide to try this, let me know. I’m a wuss when it comes to peeling sweet potatoes. They’re a PAIN IN THE BUTT, and I want to know if it’s worth it first
