Movie Day

Some days, you just want to hang out and watch some movies. Today was one of those days. The kids and I enjoyed time together, vegging, watching movie after movie. It was a hodge-modge mixture of movies, as well! The kids enjoyed the movies 😀

1. Newsies (Collector’s Edition) The kids weren’t thrilled with this choice. I woke up singing, and I mean that quite literally, “Seize the Day”. I woke up with the song in my head, and it translated outside my mouth 😀 The kids got bored about halfway through, and I made them come back and watch. They admitted at the end that they understood why I liked it. That works for me.

2. The Hunger Games Madi has been begging to watch this. I made her read the whole trilogy first, and she did. One right after the other. She was hooked! When we watched the movie, she cried when Rue died. She was silent at first, and then I handed her a tissue, which caused her to completely melt down. My poor girl!

3. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire I was like “No, I’ll wait until it’s dark on another day to watch. Like 5 seconds into it starting, I’m closing the browser and sitting between the kiddos. We’ll have to watch again when it’s dark, though, because GOD AWFUL GLARE. Stupid sun!

4. Beetlejuice Kids have seen it on ABC Family, but never in full non-commercial glory 😀 They liked it a lot!

5. Hocus Pocus A family favorite that we finally have on DVD! 😀

6. Willow Now the kids truly understand my “BEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR” comments that I do sometimes. Long before Kilmer was Batman and then blew up, physically. 🙁

7. Dungeons & Dragons Yes, this version is awfully written, terribly acted, and all of that, but it’s still a family favorite because they at least freaking TRIED to follow DnD 😀

What movies would be on your “Lazy Day” playlist?

Good Booze, Good Friends

I didn't even realize #angryorchard was #glutenfree pretty cool. There’s something about finding an alcohol that you like.

Then looking and realizing you can suggest it to almost any friend, because it’s also gluten-free.

And only noticing because you’re looking for the alcoholic content, and realizing that might be why you feel a little loopy.

Yes, I’m completely a lightweight when it comes to alcohol.

Vantage Point

I finally got to get an actual bath last night. I spent half an hour in the tub, playing with my phone. Though I’d planned to read on the Kindle. Oh well. I had a blast! It was so relaxing and wonderful.

Thank You Dad!

Thanks to my father, I no longer have any unexpected lights on (ABS/Brakes is expected and honestly, nothing to worry about. I’ve driven 3 vehicles previously without ABS). Prior Check Engine Soon light was my gas cap light. Makes me wonder if someone attempted to snake some gas from me, since the vehicle was sitting for so long, BUT it had been sitting at half a tank, so yeah, I doubt they got much).

But otherwise, it’s running beautifully. She has new spark plugs and my pads have 8k miles or so left on them (as Dad said, the life of my vehicle, since I’ve gone a whopping 26k miles in 6 years ROFL). She’s got a fresh 5 quarts of oil, new air filter, and new oil filter. No noticeable drips.

Oh, and did I mention the A/C is working. We tested it Tuesday, and trust me, it was working

18 Days

There are 18 days until school starts. Not that I’m counting.

Okay, I’m counting.

They’re driving me bonkers. They’re bored. It’s been too humid and too hot to go outside. The playground equipment would burn them. Then, my parents were here, and we all (but Ethan). We’ve had a pretty productive summer break, but I’m ready for it to finish. I think they might be ready as well.
