Review: Once Upon a Knight

Once Upon a KnightOnce Upon a Knight by Jackie Ivie

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I read a previous novel by Ms. Ivie. Irony with that is that I found out my best friend had started the same book (the previous novel, not this one).

Anyways, it starts with a poor shaken frog. It just gets better and better.
There’s a revenge plot, bastards (literally), and more.
It’s entertaining, it’s sweet, and it’s just great.

Oh, and did I mention guys in kilts?

Note: there is a dwarf, and he is slightly mocked, but he’s also a bastard, in the figurative sense, so, honestly, he’s just a prick.

Review: At the King’s Command

At the King's Command (Tudor Rose, #1)At the King’s Command by Susan Wiggs

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The first book, in a series of three. I don’t have access, just yet, to book #2, but the series is good.
It’s very well written, leaves you on your toes, and makes you wonder what’s coming next.
In all the best ways.

If you like romance with a bit of a mystery, set in the times of Lords, Ladies, Kings & Queens, when the titles were more than just a name, you’ll enjoy this book.

I know I did.

The story starts with a murder. Not even a massacre. The writing is so well done that it just about broke my heart. I felt like I was in Juliana’s  place.

All in all, I really did enjoy it!

30. Calm: Earlier in the month we shot busy, now let’s shoot something calm. What’s calm in your life today?

Nothing more calming than lots of books, ready to be read.
Some are re-reads but who can resist even a re-read?!
