Make the Pledge–I did for Janey!

The R-word is the word ‘retard(ed)’. Why does it hurt? The R-word hurts because it is exclusive. It’s offensive. It’s derogatory. The R-word is . See why supporters think the R-Word is hurtful when used in jokes or as part of everyday speech.

Quote courtesy of Spread the Word to End the Word

Today is “Spread the Word to End the Word” Day.

I’m not looking for just a Band-Aid fix. I’m joining the call for an all-out ban on the word. No child is retarded. NOTHING and NO ONE should be called that.

The hurt and pain that children (and adults) feel isn’t just something that can be wished away. Nothing takes away that pain. NO ONE deserves to feel like that.

Find another word for it. Personally, I use moronic. It describes those who act stupid better. When I think *something* is stupid, I say stupid or screwy. I NEVER call a person “retarded”. I don’t even like mentally handicapped. Every person has a gift, and those are developmentally challenged have the gift of showing us that we’re stronger than we are. They show us what true really is.

So, Janey, I’m this for my complete and total of you, and your amazing son, Will. You two make me smile DAILY with how strong BOTH of you are!
