Just a random vent
I’m tired of people telling me I should spend more than such and such amount on my stuff.
I’ve been told that my $850 laptop is too cheap o.O (damn better stats than a Toshiba that cost $150 more, ore hell, a Mac that cost $2K more).
I’m told my $100 go-phone is a piece of crap, yet my sister’s Razr has died on her 3 times in the same amount I’ve had my Nokia.
Josh’s dad trying to get us to buy a car when we knew we wanted something with HEIGHT and 4-wheel-drive … And thank god we did, because 2 weeks after we bought the TrailBlazer, we got 8 inches of snow and the only vehicles that moved in the parking lot were vehicles of similar make, ROFL. His dad had to take the truck he’s got, because his car got stuck. Then again, he did call that night and say that he was glad we ignored his advice and bought the Trailblazer.
Now, I’m looking at getting a small MP3 player. 2 gigs min, 4 gigs max. I’m refusing to spend more than $100 for one (since we’ll most likely be buying THREE at the time, one for me, one for Josh, and one for his dad for Father’s Day).
Honestly, why would I need more?
My current iTunes stats:
331 items
21.7 hours of music
1.57 gigs of music
One of those songs is 19 minutes (Titanic Suite)
Honestly, what is this push to try and make people purchase more than what they want. I honestly do not get it.

I’m with you! No need to spend more when you don’t have to. We just bought my son a SanDisk made by Sony. It is 2 gig and it was only *gasp* $35! I bought the 1 gig in 2005 and if I actually liked using mp3 players, it was awesome. FM tuner and all. Also, my ACER laptop from Circuit City cost me $499. 1 gig.. I love it.. The way I view your situation is this..if they want you to spend more, have them donate to your spending fund.
Rene’s last blog post..“Mommy! Huwwy!”
@ Rene :: Thanks, Rene. Totally agree.
Actually, the SanDisk, 1-gig version is something we’re looking at for my FIL. :)
