Thursday Thirteen – Tax Return

Thirteen Things We’re Doing With Tax Return

  • Buy a laptop
That’s one of the first purchases we’ll be making
  • Buy a desktop
    Another purchase we’ll be making
  • Pay on debts
While the return doesn’t cover everything, it’s always a good idea :)
  • Buy bedding
Madi’s going from toddler to twin bed, so we’ve gotta make a few purchases for that :)
  • Mattresses
Or at least one for Madi and Ethan (he needs a new toddler/crib one)
  • Money into savings
Just to make sure we have it if we need it. We’re actually doing pretty well and able to put some back each paycheck already :)
  • Stand Mixer
Our current mixer SMOKES when we use it
  • Glasses and Contacts
For moi, of course. Josh has agreed to at least the contacts. My glasses are fine, but contacts will help them last a little longer :) That, and keep me more comfortable for other aspects of life, where glasses aren’t always feasible
  • More train sets for Ethan
Ethan loves the GeoTracks and we love spoiling him with them
  • Disney movies that come out of the vault, or are re-released
We’re buying them for us, and for the kids :)
  • Some cookbooks
I’m tired of the patheticness that is LJ when it comes to asking for a recipe. So sue me if I didn’t know how to make lasagna, FFS, or mentioning that several recipes had freaking Bisquick in it.
  • TrailBlazer accessories
Mostly things like extra floormats, and covers for the steering wheel, a couple of litter bags (double awesomely as puke bags, JIC)
  • The Sims 2: Teen Style stuff pack
That won’t be purchased until after we buy the new desktop (this one won’t even play it,), but I’m dying for it, ;)

I would like to pay off all my debts but it won’t pay it all off, it will help some though. Great list, I am up too.

Great list! Looks like you’ll be able to get a bunch of stuff with your return.

The Mocha Mom » Our goal is to pay off the interest that we’d be paying on our car loan (only $2K), and then we’re satisfied with ourselves. Right now, other things, to us, are a little more important (the PC and laptop aren’t life altering, but make life a little easier on us, and this one is 4 years old, so time for an upgrade :)).

Suzanne » We’re going to try and spread out the spending, so that the savings account can accrue some interest, but yeah, we’re gonna do pretty well. Most likely won’t get everything on the list, but man, it’ll be nice to at least get half ;)

    Many happy returns, indeed!

Great list! I haven’t made mine, but seeing this post makes me realize if I plan ahead like you have, I’ll get more bang for my buck.

    My 13 are here.

Rian Fike » *giggles* Too true. I’m counting down the days until it’s supposed to arrive,. So far, we’re down to 7-12 days, XD, but I doubt that includes weekends. Thankfully, though, we’re having it direct-deposited :)

SuzanneSays » The laptop was a last minute decision, so that my husband and I aren’t fighting over the PC,. We both always want it, and now we both can enjoy ourselves :) The laptop just will be mine though,. ;) Budgeting seems to have become my forte, though, which is one reason we’re able to get as much as we can, without breaking the bank (as his dad is always afraid I’ll do,)

Amen on spending for your computer. I’m buying more memory for mine with my return. I don’t need a whole new one, cuz I just built this in Sept. But it could stand another gig of memory. I’m also getting my car worked on and socking away some $. Great list!

Winter » If we could get away with just making updates on this we would,, but it’s dying, slowly, but surely, :( Our next PC will, hopefully, be custom-built, if not through one of the company sites, or by my husband himself. Depends on cost, time, and space available ;)

That must be a very substantial refund you’re getting. Congratulations!

Nicholas » It’s about $5k, but we’re going to space it out, so some it will actually be my husband’s paychecks.
