My Grown-Up Christmas List
My Grown-Up Christmas List
my fav. version is by Kelly Clarkson
Do you remember me
I sat upon your knee
I wrote to you
With childhood fantasiesWell, I’m all grown up now
And still need help somehow
I’m not a child
But my heart still can dreamSo here’s my lifelong wish
My grown up christmas list
Not for myself
But for a world in need
No more lives torn apart
That wars would never start
and wars would never start
And time would heal all hearts
And everyone would have a friend
And right would always win
And love would never end
This is my grown up christmas listAs children we believed
The grandest sight to see
Was something lovely
Wrapped beneath our treeWell heaven only knows
That packages and bows
Can never heal
A hurting human soulNo more lives torn apart
That wars would never start
And time would heal all hearts
And everyone would have a friend
And right would always win
And love would never end
This is my grown up christmas listWhat is this illusion called the innocence of youth
Maybe only in our blind belief can we ever find the truth
(there’d be)No more lives torn apart
That wars would never start
And time would heal all hearts
And everyone would have a friend
And right would always win
And love would never end, oh

I know everyone has a wishlist a mile long for the holidays, but remember, the spirit of the season is about giving, not receiving. Even if you don’t believe in the “true” reason for the season, there’s more than just presents, I swear!! Who gives a flying flick what the retail companies want to tell us. It’s about what’s in our hearts, and what we can share with our fellow man.
So, what’s your “grown-up” Christmas list?
