Pixel shade

I seriously need to learn to pixel-shade, be it line art or dolls, ( I totally and completely suck at it. My sense of shading is just -off- when I do it pixel-shading-wise. Tool-shading? They come off looking pretty decent. Any other way? Craptastic!! HELP!!

Josh got Gran Turismo 4 for the PS2, and I got the Sonic collection. *dances* I’m too impatient to wait for Sonic 2 to come out for the Wii, lol . His excuse for GT4 is so that Dad has something to play, and my excuse for Sonic is for Mom and Dad

what made pixel shading click for me was some of Sabbi’s tutorials. Not the ones in the members area, the original ones she had. Don’t know if it helps you any, but I try to picture it in my head where the shadows and lights fall. Mostly lots of tutorials helped me get to liking my pixel shading

I wish some of the sites that taught great pixel-shading were still around or at least non-paid (

as far as dolls, best I think of right away is Oyye’s (Ali’s) hair one, just leave off the burning at the end. Watermelon bubblegum’s are pretty good too. If I come across any good ones, I can send them your way if you’d like.

As for pixel things, I just bumble through on my own. I try to stick to a realistic approach to the shading, and not aim for cutesy. For trees and wood grain, my style is a cross between Manda’s FI tutorial and Juleah’s tree one at World of Purple
